Be Counted Day.
In reaching
out to the “hard to count”
populations of Sacramento county, the Census Bureau, State,
County, and City collaborated in
staging a “be counted” day on
the California State Capitol
grounds.
Produced
by The Lundquist Company, the
event included a 250 person
unity march around the Capitol,
a resource faire with more than
30 multi-cultural organizations,
speakers, and a full day of
cultural entertainment on the
West Capitol steps.
Attended by 550, the
event embraced the many
populations of Sacramento
including:
Filipino, African American,
Asian Pacific Islander,
Hmong, Latino, Little Saigon,
LGBT, Chinese Americans,
Marshallese, Slavic, Tongan,
Fiji, Vietnamese American and
Faith-based communities of
Sacramento.
